How To Accept Or Reject An Admission Offer From JAMB.

Have you been offered admission into the institution of your choice? If yes, then it’s high time you ACCEPT or REJECT your admission offer on the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admission Processing System (CAPS).

JAMB CAPS portal for the acceptance/rejection of admission offer is now live. Successfully admitted candidates are advised to ensure that they indicate the acceptance or rejection of admission online and timely to enable the processing of their admission.

ABOUT JAMB CAPS

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) is geared towards ensuring quality control, transparency and credibility of the admission process.

CAPS is expected to make provision for a ‘market place’ in the JAMB portal where institutions can go and ‘request for students in Nigeria who score their cut off points.’

The system is such that institutions can only admit those who meet their cut off points. If a candidate fails to meet the cut off mark, that student would certainly be denied admission irrespective of the candidate’s connection.

JAMB Announces Admissions for 200,000 Candidates.

The Joint Admission And Matriculation Board (JAMB) has anounced that it has offered 200,000 admissions to successfull candidates by the board, for the 2018/2019 academic session.

Over 1.6 million candidates wrote JAMB-organised 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The Head, Media and Information of the JAMB, Dr Fabian Benjamin, who disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lagos, said that the admission took effect after the board’s policy meeting in June in Gbongan, Osun state.

According to him, the exercise is done through the Central Admission Process (CAP), an automated process to eliminate all human interference.

“We have so far offered not less than 200,000 first choice admissions to candidates.

“To this effect therefore, we are urging candidates to go to our site and check their admission status and those who have been offered such admission should quickly indicate by accepting and printing such offer, as failure to do so will automatically mean the candidate is no longer interested.

“And therefore, the board may see all such offers as rejected and would have no option than to mop them up and give it to other interested candidates.

“Candidates are to accept or reject all offers not later than Oct.16 as that is when all offers of admissions of first choice will close.

“After that, we will commence admission exercise for the second choice of candidates,” Benjamin said.

He added that the admission process has been made easy as it is clear on the board’s official website, all what the candidates need to know about their admission status and process.

President Buhari Assures Teachers of Solving the issues of Unpaid Salaries

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigeria’s Teachers that his heart is with them over the issue of unpaid salaries, assuring that unpaid salaries would soon become an issue of the past.

The president’s senior special assistant on media and publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in a statement in Abuja on Friday, October 5, said Buhari gave the assurance in a message to this year’s World Teachers’ Day.

The president disclosed that he was aware that in some states and local councils of the federation, teachers were being owed salaries of several months.

He revealed that it was specifically to mitigate the situation of unpaid teachers and pensioners that his administration doled out billions of naira as bailout funds to various states.

“Sadly, the issue of unpaid salaries remains,’’he lamented.

Buhari, however, assured that the Federal Government would continue to work with the state governments to ensure that “all salary arrears are not just cleared, but that unpaid salaries become an issue of the past.’’

The president used the opportunity of this year’s World Teachers’ Day to express his appreciation to all Nigeria’s teachers, “the usually unsung heroes of our country whose skill and commitment daily mould the minds of our country’s youth, our leaders of today and tomorrow.’’

While highlighting some of the measures put in place by his administration to improve education and better the welfare of teachers, Buhari regretted as “grave and unfortunate” that the country’s teachers were often treated unfairly despite their essential services.

According to him, Teachers are the most important segment of workers in the country, invaluable for the essential work they do towards building the country’s future.

He said: “Teaching is a noble profession, wielding a strong influence by inspiring and educating our children. The values they inculcate stay with them for a lifetime.’’
